Sombrio - Mountain Bike Clothing since 1998

In the 1980s, mountain biking was still waiting to be fully discovered and tight Lycra clothing was the ultimate look. While most mountain bikers were descending gravel trails and the Downhill World Cup was still being held in open meadows, an early freeride movement was already beginning to form in Vancouver, Canada's North Shore. In the now legendary North Shore forests, from which spectacular action could later be seen especially in the "New World Disorder" mountain bike movies, a bunch of freeriders declared war on Lycra clothing and wanted to develop products that did justice to the freeride spirit and unique riding style. So when Sombrio launched their first collection of functional and stylish MTB apparel in 1998, they found worldwide acclaim while helping to shape a new generation of mountain bikers.

Today Sombrio has remained true to the freeride spirit and develops mountain bike performance and lifestyle clothing that forms a perfect bridge between functionality and style. The cuts and materials have of course become more modern over the years, but the Sombrio team still goes out into the Canadian forests to test the products extensively.
