The 12mm DT Swiss RWS MTB thru axle with aluminum lever is compatible with wheels and frames with an installation width of 142 mm. The patented RWS wheel mounting system from DT Swiss is stiff, secure and easy to use. The Plug In variant offers all the advantages of a tool-free mounting of the thru axle. Who prefers the clean look of a screw axle, simply pulls off the lever unit and stows it in the backpack. On the axle is a 6 mm hexagon which can be operated with any standard tool. On the lever unit is also a 6 mm hexagon which can of course also be used as a minitool on the road.
RWS is the innovative wheel mounting system from DT Swiss. The operation is very simple: tighten the tensioner by turning the lever clockwise as tight as possible by hand (min. 15 Nm). Depending on the frame design, this can also be done by flipping the lever several times. Then lift the lever and turn it to the desired position - the wheel is securely and firmly mounted. Thru axles provide a much stiffer and more precise connection to the frame than conventional quick release.
