SLR 1 50 wheels feature a 50 mm deep rim profile with a modern 22.4 mm internal width, providing not only aerodynamic benefits but also better support for modern larger volume tires. With hookless rim design and optimized carbon layup for a robust structure with minimal weight, as well as low-friction hubs and Dynamic Balanced Lacing technology for maximum power efficiency, the SLR 1 50 offers riders maximum aero efficiency without weight penalty.

Dynamic Balanced Lacing

Since its introduction in 2015, Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) has been one of the cornerstones of GIANT wheels. DBL ensures that the spokes are at optimal tension under dynamic load, resulting in improved durability and drive efficiency. The enlarged DBL hub flange also increases spoke angles, increasing torsional and lateral stiffness for better power transfer and a more stable sprint.

Optimized Carbon Layup

Using high-strength carbon fibers placed in key locations and tested with finite element analysis (FEA), GIANT engineers have met the challenge of building wheels that are as durable as they are lightweight. With industry-leading stiffness, ride comfort and durability while keeping weight to a minimum, the new SLR wheels are fast and strong.

Hookless Rim design

Light weight

Compared to traditional rims with a hook design, a hookless rim makes it easier to increase the inside width without sacrificing weight without increasing the outside width. GIANT's new hookless rim design also allows a narrower, lighter tire to be used as it takes up a significantly larger volume on a hookless rim than on eienr classic hooked rim.

Improved durability

GIANT's Hookless rim design incorporates an innovative manufacturing process that provides a significantly more robust carbon structure. This process improves the rim's durability and puncture protection without adding weight.

Safe handling

Hookless rims create a rounder tire shape for improved grip and safer handling through better sidewall support.

Aero advantages

Without the hook to depress the tire, tires on GIANT's new Hookless rims can offer a distinct aerodynamic advantage. The transition from tire sidewall to rim is much smoother, saving valuable energy and significantly improving aerodynamics.
