Light enough for Road and strong enough for DH!
Over the last ten years bicycle components have been at the centre of the battle between lightness, stiffness and strength. Carbon has been the material of choice to satisfy these demands. Whilst Hope has traditionally focused on CNC machined components they felt the time was right to expand their quality product range to include carbon composites. Hope's move into the carbon market is totally consistent with their approach - made in UK.
Each seat-post employs 24 individual 'plies' of carbon, pre-impregnated with a highly toughened epoxy resin system, designed to ensure a safe and rugged unit. The bulk of the laminate comprises Unidirectional T700 fibre - the highest strength Standard Modulus fibre available. (Unidirectional fibres provide the maximum tensile strength and stiffness with minimum weight.)
This is combined with strategically positioned plies of 3K twill woven fabric, adding hoop strength to resist clamping forces and mitigating failure mode in the event of serious crash damage. The 1K 2×2 twill weave fabric outer ply, also contributes in this respect together with a super smooth finish and striking visual aesthetic.
A lot of the products they design and manufacture at Hope are suitable for multi-diciplines. The carbon post is no different. The positive weight and strength factors mean the carbon post is light enough for road and CX and cross-country bikes and strong enough for enduro and DH bikes.
The ultra-fine seat rail adjustment comes from the tried and proven previous 'Eternity Seatpost' and can be ordered in version for round or oval saddle rails.
