Evolution SL A.3
This aluminium rear wheel with its 35mm inner width and flared rim flanges offers you the perfect basis for your Plus Bike. The special rim profile with the completely edge-free outer contour makes this rim very light and also extremely resistant to external forces. The flared rim flanks are more resistant to dents than conventional straight rim flanks and give the tyre a rounder shape and therefore more cornering grip. In combination with light Plus tires you will achieve a riding experience and lightness like a normal AllMountain but with the grip, riding safety and comfort of a PLUS bike.
In combination with the new NEWMEN Straightpull hubs and the 28 Sapim D-light spokes each, the result is a perfect PLUS wheelset.
The rim
Like all NEWMEN EVOLUTION SL components, the rim is made of a high-strength aluminium alloy and impresses with first-class mechanical properties and low weight.
The slightly flared sidewalls make this rim more resistant to external forces and give the tyre a slightly rounder shape. This improves comfort and cornering grip, especially in wet conditions.
Use of material only where it has to be.
The rim profile with the straight nipple contact surface is specially designed for use with our special washers and ensures very high spoke pull out values, with low wall thickness in this area.
This saves weight where it counts. The perfect rim for a fast, light and trouble-free Road Disc wheelset.
The hub
NEWMEN does not take any risk for a reliable and durable function. At the neuralgic points there is more material in the hubs and therefore more safety than hubs from other manufacturers. For example, not only the highly stressed transition between the front brake disc mount and the spoke flange on the hubs has a wall thickness that is up to 50% greater than on comparable lightweight hubs. The highly stressed spoke flanges themselves are also made more solid for durability reasons.
Unlike pawl freewheels, the two toothed pulleys of the freewheel system guarantee that all teeth are always in full use. With pawl freewheels, on the other hand, in the worst case only one pawl can be engaged. This places extreme loads on the hubs and freewheel bearings. A heavy load (e.g. steep uphill) usually results in total failure.
The Gen2 is a revised version with improved usability - there is no longer any need to make any adjustments.
