The praxis works MTB 1X chainring features the proprietary Wave™ technology which not only actively engages the chain, but also reduces the wear of the chain in comparison to other systems. It offers superior stiffness because of the 7075-T6 aluminium and the stamped and machined manufacturing with hard black anodizing guarantees durability. There is no need for the use of an upper guide, but it is still recommended for very rough terrain or just for pure security. To combine with 10-/11-/12-speed Shimano, KMC and SRAM chains. Wave™ Tech
The Wave™ pattern applies alternating lateral force to each chain link to actively retain links to ring - going beyond narrow/wide implementation that relies solely on friction. The Wave™ tooth pattern swings right to left, grasping the interior of the chain for retention, but allowing room for mud, debris, and grit to escape. The Wave™ design creates more open areas for mud and debris evacuation and preserves chain retention in adverse conditions - one of many "Achilles' Heels" of narrow/wide designs.
Designed with mindful consideration of system friction, the Wave™ design actively engages the chain but yields much less concentrated wear than competing designs - spreading the load over large surface areas instead. Tough enough for Enduro, Downhill, and also weight conscious for XC riding. These MTB Wave™ Tech rings are machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and Hard Anodized to take a beating.
Cold Forging Chainrings
All of praxis works chainrings are created with their proprietary forging process which allows them to manipulate the ring shape and tooth profile more than ever before. With "One-Shot" forging the company is able to increase the amount of shifting features on a chainring which normal CNC manufacturing won't allow.
The process also creates a harder and tougher tooth surface for durability with over 1000 tons. Individual tooth profiles, alternating tooth angles, timed ramps and tactically placed shift elevators are all jam packed onto a Praxis ring. Translation: All of these small aggregate features add up to one of the most durable and consistent shifting rings ever produced for cyclists.
Compatibility:
The MTB 1X chainring can be mounted to the most 4-arm 104BCD MTB cranks. There is no need for the use of an upper guide, but it is still recommended for very rough terrain or just for pure security.
The 30T version is a threaded ring and needs a M8 male bolt with min. 7.5 mm length for interface.
In combination with a Shimano SLX M675 or Deore XT M785 crank the 32T MTB 1X chainring needs to be mounted with spacer. Detailed informations you will find under "Attachements".
The MTB 1X chainring needs to be used with a mid or long cage "Clutch Type" rear derailleur. For example with the Shimano Shadow or SRAM Type 2.
