Fjällräven created the Kånken in 1978 to help prevent posture problems among Swedish school children. Since then, the backpack has been one of our absolute bestsellers.
The mini version is just as suitable for children as for adults who appreciate a small backpack. The size is ideal for children who want to carry their own field trip provisions or change of clothes for kindergarten; however, the model also proves itself as a practical everyday bag for books, water bottle, fruit and much more.
The long shoulder straps are adjustable, so the model is equally suitable for small and large backs. A snap closure ensures that the strap ends do not hang loose in the tightest position.
The backpack is made of durable, lightweight Vinylon F, which repels dirt and moisture. Thanks to the large zippered opening, the main compartment is easy to pack. Two shallow side pockets and a zippered pocket on the front. PE foam seat cushion disappears into the rear interior compartment when not in use, where it prevents the backpack contents from pushing through to the back. Top carry handles and narrow, adjustable shoulder straps. The logo on the front is reflective. There is an address label inside the main compartment.
Durable material, tried and tested since the 1970s Vinylon F stands for the virtually indestructible fabric that has contributed significantly to Kånken's legendary reputation over the decades. As a synthetic material - it is made of the fiber polyvinyl alcohol - it has a number of properties that are otherwise only found in natural materials.
Materials used for backpacks, such as polyurethane (PU) or silicone, typically require a coating to be waterproof. Vinylon, on the other hand, behaves like a natural material: when exposed to moisture, the fibers swell. As a result, the fabric becomes denser on its own and can withstand moisture. A coating is unnecessary.
In combination with the outstanding durability, this property has contributed to Vinylon F being as current as ever in Kånken.
