The Wildfire Edge is a technical approach shoe that converts from a hiking shoe to a climbing shoe. Developed with mountain guides and professional climbers from the Dolomites, the Salewa Switchfit system is as simple as it is clever. Simply feed the laces through the extra eyelet and pull tight to change the shape of the shoe. Your foot is now pulled forward and your toes are squeezed together like in a climbing shoe. This makes it easier to climb with your toe and step on friction, and increases your safety on technical terrain. Switching back to a hiking boot works by simply loosening the laces. This widens the toe box and provides greater comfort while hiking.

Underneath the highly abrasion-resistant upper (suede and microfiber) is the thin, highly breathable GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane, which protects you from moisture and ensures maximum comfort in a wide range of weather conditions. It keeps your feet dry, but moisture that builds up inside the shoe can still escape to the outside.

To improve precision while climbing, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an insole plate under the forefoot that adds extra stiffness to this area that is important while climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure a high level of comfort and a natural rolling motion.

The Pomoca Speed MTN sole is made of an extra adhesive rubber compound for high friction on slabs and other smooth rock structures. The outsole has special lugs for better grip on muddy and soft surfaces. It is designed for effective grip in both dry and wet conditions.

Additional torsional stability is provided by the Exa Shell structure: it gives the foot support and prevents slipping in the shoe. In addition, your foot is protected by the 3F system, which guarantees flexibility, a good fit and a firm grip. Climbing Lacing, our climbing shoe lacing, goes all the way to the toes - so you can tighten the shoe better for a precise fit. The Wildfire Edge features Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+), a special footbed that you can customize to your foot shape with interchangeable layers.

• Switchfit adjustment - to quickly switch from hiking to climbing mode. By tying in the extra lace hole, the heel is pulled in and the foot is pushed forward towards the toes. This constricts the toes, just as is common for climbing shoes, to provide a secure grip on small footholds.
