Especially for an aggressive riding style Shimano developed a tough, rigid, but also lightweight crankset that has a steel axle and pedal-steel threaded sleeves. By using a solid crank arm and a hollow axle, Shimano has found the perfect balance between stiffness, strength and maneuverability. With Shimano's forging technology, the developers were able to integrate a hollow bottom bracket, which provides high rigidity and low weight, ensuring a balance between these two properties.
