When developing the Free headlamp, Silva wanted to make more out of less. Less cable, less hassle and more light from a smaller lamp. From the challenge they created many new innovations and the result is the brand new Silva Free headlamp series. Airflow Technology: Less heat, more light
Developed in conjunction with experts in thermodynamics, Airflow Technology means the lamps feature an optimized aluminum radiator that works with the protective plastic housing to provide maximum ventilation and cooling. The result is a lamp with really good light regardless of the activity, even if the air circulation or cooling is not optimal.

Modular Technology: Less complexity - more flexibility
The modularity of the Free series gives you flexibility and the ability to add or upgrade your headlamp with a different battery, lamp head or mount. The lamp and battery can be easily detached from the headband and attached to other locations instead.

Silva Intelligent Light: a dual beam technology - for higher speed.
A dual beam technology used in all Silva headlamps. The combination of a long range headlamp and a close floodlight with a shorter range results in more comfortable head movement, better control, improved balance, less fatigue and higher speed.

One headlamp for all your different activities
Silva Free is a headlamp series with the possibility to customize your headlamp according to your needs and your different activities. Choose between three different lamp units, four batteries and three mounting options. All parts are interchangeable, so you don't have to buy a new headlamp for your different activities. Just add another lamp unit, battery and mounting kit to your setup and you'll have a perfect lamp no matter what sport you choose. All parts can be purchased separately.

Find the right combination of brightness (lumens), burn time and weight.
When choosing a headlamp, it's important to find the right balance between lumens (brightness), burn time, and weight. These affect each other, so the right combination for you depends on what activity you're using your headlamp for. So think about the relationship between brightness (lumens) and how long you want to spend outdoors, as well as speed and terrain. If you're primarily on asphalt and easier trails, you'll need less light (lower lumens) than if you're on technical terrain. The more challenging the terrain, the more light (higher lumens) you'll need to spot any obstacles on the trail. Opt for Free 1200 lumens and a lighter battery if your main sports are trail running and cross country skiing. Choose Free 2000 - 3000 lumens brightness and a heavier battery if you are moving at high speed and in challenging terrain.
