SRAM Rival 22: Rival Your Limits
The new SRAM Rival 22 groupset delivers immense performance across a broad variety of bikes and disciplines. Paved or not. Cyclocross or triathlon. Road racing or unchartered journeys. So why settle for a group that's simply ratcheted-down to 75 percent of what the pros ride? Rival 22 delivers 100 percent of what cyclists demand.
The Rival 22 DoubleTap mechnical shifter is modeled after best-in-class SRAM RED 22 shifters. Equipped with an aluminium brake lever and shift paddle it uses RED 22 internals for best shifting performance. Hence these shifter features DoubleTap, ZeroLoss and individual ReachAdjust for both brakelever and shift paddle. Adotpting the same Design from RED 22, which is called ErgoFit it provides best ergonomics. A textured hood cover will improve grip and finger wrap. Additionally it offers Yaw in combination with a Yaw compatible front derailleur. Instead of multiple shifts using trim, with confusing microshifts Yaw allows rotating of the front derailleur cage to maintain a consistent angular relationship with the chain.
Built around SRAM's Double Tap technology, Rival 22 controls offer up- and downshifting in one motion. With Zero Loss shifting front gears are engaged immediately. The independent ReachAdjust features on the brake and shift levers are easier to access with an allen key to quickly adjust for every hand size. Larger ErgoBlade levers improve shifting from the drops.
Finally thank to ErgoFit, the shape of the lever bodies has been completely redesigned with a smaller diameter and higher top shape to increase the rider's control and a better transition to the bar.
Technical advice: For best shifting performance please use the SRAM Rival 22 front control lever with a SRAM 2-speed YAW front derailleur.
