Due to the tight supply situation for individual components, bikes may sometimes be delivered with deviating equipment. However, any alternative components used will be of a corresponding quality to that of the original components.
The Specialized Epic World Cup is the fastest cross country race bike in the world thanks to its unsurpassed combination of efficiency, control and low weight on light to medium trails. All it took to build this speed machine was an absolutely holistic development approach, the invention of a radical new shock and four decades of off-road experience crowned with countless victories.
World Champion Christopher Blevins put it best: "This bike gives me everything I love about hardtails, plus the control and capability of a full-suspension bike."
In order to achieve maximum speed through mercilessly efficient power transmission and precise handling, the Specialized engineering team has set and achieved new standards in terms of torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. This feat required a holistic development approach, combining a structurally superior double-diamond layout with a top tube-integrated shock and the most sophisticated carbon layup in Specialized's history.
The Specialized Ride Dynamics team developed a revolutionary shock technology for the Epic World Cup that gives you the efficiency and snappy response of a hardtail plus the control and performance of a full-suspension bike - all with a simple setup. Developed in conjunction with RockShox, the SID Deluxe WCID shock uses a unique, independently adjustable positive and negative air spring. This provides the coveted snap of a hardtail and swallows difficult terrain, maintains your momentum and forgives riding errors. The setup can be adapted to different trails or tailored to your preferences. If you set the Epic WC to a hard setting, it rides like a hardtail; in a softer setup, it clears the bumps out of the way. Not only do you have the option of opening or closing the compression damping, the simple nature of the setup also allows you to ride with or without sag.
While the groundbreaking SID Deluxe WCID damper provides the unique blend of support and compliance in the rear, the BRAIN is still built into the fork and is still alive and kicking. The position-sensitive technology with 15mm sag gives you a balanced ride and offers smooth compliance on small bumps and a rigid pedaling platform - without a handlebar remote for the compression damping.
