- Instead of a traditional three-ply carcass that piles material under the tread where it increases rolling resistance, the Rapid Air's carcass consists of only two plies that overlap on the sidewall and not only roll faster but also grip better with a smoother contact patch.
- The new Gripton T2 compound - the fastest and most efficient compound Specialized has ever developed - enhances this already impressive performance.
- It has been combined with the legendary Gripton T5 compound on the shoulders. With this dual compound, a set of 26mm S-Works Turbo RapidAir 2BR tires saves two watts of rolling resistance compared to the previous tire and increases the life of a set by about 1000 kilometers.
