Thanks to its 3D-printed padding with engineered zonal padding, the Fizik Aeris SD Adaptive saddle ensures maximum stability and support for time trialists and triathletes who need an optimal platform to generate power in forward leaning, aerodynamic riding positions.
The Adaptive 3D-printed padding has expanded the Aeris family, creating the perfect combination for those who want exceptional, long-lasting comfort on a triathlon saddle. This saddle is designed with a wider nose to provide more support and stability in the forward leaning, aerodynamic racing position.
The advancement of digital 3D printing makes it possible to develop a saddle without the restrictions or limitations of traditional production methods and materials. The Adaptive saddle padding is manufactured by Carbon using their revolutionary Digital Light Synthesis technology. DLS is an additive manufacturing process that uses digital ultraviolet light, oxygen permeable optics and programmable liquid resins to produce parts with superior mechanical properties, resolution and surface quality.
With carbon technology, biomechanists and engineers have an unprecedented opportunity: to design and manufacture multiple functional zones within the saddle, with each zone tuned separately for specific mechanical properties. Each of these key zones is designed for a different cushioning and mechanical response, progressively and seamlessly merging into the same padding. The result? A reduction in peak pressure through improved weight distribution for increased comfort across the entire saddle surface.
The short distance version of the Aeris Adaptive is designed to provide support and stability for athletes competing in both time trials and short distance triathlons without slipstream. The correctly sized nose and specific zones on the 3D printed padding provide a balanced set-up to allow riders to generate maximum power in forward leaning, aerodynamic positions. One of the many benefits of Adaptive technology is that it allows a soft, central functional zone to be integrated, rather than a cut-out, to improve weight distribution for better pressure relief and increase comfort in the most extreme aerodynamic riding positions. At the same time, the surface of the padding provides a non-slip grip that avoids unnecessary movements that can affect performance.
The Aeris comes with an optional connection to integrate a water bottle holder on the back of the saddle. The link is designed to hold bottles at an angle that is out of the way during the critical climbing and descending phases in the transition zones. In compliance with UCI regulations, the Aeris is equipped with a revolutionary rail mount that not only provides a more aerodynamic feel, but also allows for a wide range of adjustment necessary to achieve the ideal riding position to beat the wind. The Aeris R3 Adaptive offers both strength and weight savings through the combination of a ride-ready, carbon-reinforced nylon shell and a hollow Kium brace.
