Ample Flare is a typical feature of modern gravel handlebars. The ergonomics of the GRX ST-RX820 shift/brake lever have been optimized and specially adapted to flared handlebars. While the grip design reduces pressure on the palm of the hand, the structured, non-slip surface of the brake lever improves handling on uneven terrain. A tiny innovation in the cockpit for maximum comfort and control. With these prerequisites, the ergonomic brake/shift lever is ideal for long-distance use or for all-day or multi-day tours on mixed terrain.

However, the STI lever not only impresses with maximum comfort, but is also characterized by its smooth, precise and highly responsive shifting functionality across the entire gear range. The proven SERVO WAVE technology also ensures particularly good modulation in terms of deceleration. Adjustable in reach (Reach) and pressure point (Free Stroke).

Shimano GRX BR-RX820 disc brake caliper

The hydraulic GRX BR-RX820 brake calliper stands for outstanding braking power in difficult terrain. Thanks to improved modulation and a faster-acting pressure point, gravel bikers experience a completely new feeling of control. In addition, the Flatmount disc brake caliper is quieter and easier to maintain than ever before despite its flatter design. While a 10% increase in brake pad spacing reduces noise, the proven One Way Bleeding bleeding system makes servicing easier.

Dual Control Lever (DCL) | The Shimano DCL levers combine braking and shifting functions in a single control unit for easy and comfortable operation. When raising the performance standard, their innovative ergonomics are even more important than adding additional gear ratios. However, the highlight of the STI shift levers (Shimano Total Integration) is the ability to change gears at the front and rear with just one finger. The Dual Control levers owe this not only to their extremely precise and smooth operation, but also to the same stability for which Shimano's MTB technologies are already renowned.

SERVO WAVE | Because the brake lever takes up a lot of braking distance right at the start of its movement, the brake pads come into contact with the brake rotor more quickly and there is more lever travel to modulate the braking force. Accordingly, SERVOWAVE brake systems are characterized by a faster response, higher performance and a shorter free travel.

J-Kit (Easy Hose Joint System) | In brake systems with J-Kit brake line connection, the brake lever has an integrated pinch seal (olive), which makes it much easier to install and remove the brake line.

Ice Technologies | Shimano has developed the Ice-Tech cooling technology for brake rotors and brake pads in order to maintain a consistently high braking performance during prolonged, uninterrupted operation. Brake pads with Ice Technologies have aluminum cooling fins, which dissipate heat better. In combination with the optimized radiation properties of the brake rotor, this results in a longer service life of the pads, while braking noise and fading are minimized.
