DISC SHARK® – The New Brake Disc Era

With its innovative Shark Disc®, Galfer presents a sophisticated MTB brake disc for the most demanding mountain bike disciplines. The innovative production process, using a laser cutter, achieves the optimum design for the best possible performance. One of the most important unique selling points are the internal Shark Fins (cooling fins), which give the disc its name: Shark Disc®. The interaction of the shark fins with the many small holes in the disc reduces heat build-up, while the outer wave design and the side openings enable strong and consistent braking performance.

HIGHER BRAKING PERFORMANCE | The special design of the Disc Shark® brake rotor reduces the pressure in the brake line even under the most difficult conditions, so that less force is required to apply the brakes. Under normal conditions, this means a 5 to 10 % increase in braking performance.

MORE STABILITY | Even under the most adverse thermal conditions - steep gradients, high speeds, high ambient temperature and high mass - the Shark® rotor maintains stable and consistent braking performance at all times. To achieve appropriate stiffness for each model, its structural design adapts to the different disk diameters.

LOWER OPERATING TEMPERATURE | The one-piece design of Galfer's Shark® rotor not only increases strength, but also drastically reduces operating temperature - by up to 30%.

LONGER PAD LIFE | The design of the Shark® Fixed Rotor, which is geared towards reducing the operating temperature, also has a positive effect on brake pad wear. In practice, this means a 25 to 40 % longer service life.

LOWER WEIGHT | The optimized design - both of the rotor and the hub mount - reduces the weight considerably, so that the Disc Shark® can easily compete with any other high-end brake disc.
