The Shimano SM-PCE02 interface is used to set and update electronic Di2 and STePS components. A function for checking battery consumption can detect the occurrence of leakage currents, which have a negative effect on the current flow. The diagnostic device is required as an interface for using the E-Tube software.
In addition to the USB cable for linking to the computer, the current B3 version of the PC linkage device includes two cables in order to establish a connection with E-Tube systems of the 1st generation (SD50) and the 2nd generation (SD300).
E-Tube Project
The E-Tube Project is a program for maintenance and fault diagnosis of various devices. Via E-Tube software, for example, firmware updates are imported or changes are made to the switching operation of all shifters and switches. The E-Tube Project includes the following main functions:
- Customize. This option makes it possible to customize general functions and the operation of the system to individual needs.
- Fault diagnosis. When one or more devices are connected, this function checks their operating status and identifies those with a fault. However, fault diagnosis is not used to rectify the faults found.
- Firmware update. This function can be used to update the firmware of the individual devices. The firmware can be downloaded from the E-Tube Project website.
- Presets. This function enables all settings of connected devices to be read and written or rewritten simultaneously. The settings read out can be saved in a file. The settings made can be written to several bikes in succession.
- Unit protocol recording (only for e-bikes). Retrieves various types of unit data and displays them as a report. The unit settings and battery status can be checked in this report.
