The SRAM Code RSC is a perfect symbiosis of braking power, modulation and the stability of the SRAM Guide brake originally developed for trail and enduro use, which is now also used by some of the world's best downhill racers. Nevertheless, the need for more braking power and control to make the "impossible" possible is not yet covered. The completely new Code brake was developed for maximum performance in the most demanding terrain. It is based on the Guide architecture with a larger reservoir and 4 larger pistons on average. The Code was created to deliver massive braking power, predictable modulus response and incredible heat dissipation on the steepest and toughest trails with the longest downhills.
The Code RSC is equipped with grip width adjustment, pressure point adjustment and Swinglink technology to reduce free travel.
The new bleed port and internal fluid path make it easier and faster to push brake fluid through the caliper; the bleed adapter included with the S4 caliper docks onto the bleed port and seals the system to minimize air contamination and fluid loss.
SRAM's new brake lever design includes a new bladder shape to regulate and reduce air bubbles. The bladder is specially shaped to pump air out of the lever and deliver the fluid exactly where it is needed. The result is improved back pressure relief for reliable and consistent braking performance.
The stainless steel heat shield separates the thermal connection between the brake pad and the brake body, reducing the temperature of the brake fluid by around 20°C even under extreme test conditions.
Compatibility with MatchMaker and MMX
With Matchmaker you save weight and space on your handlebars. Matchmaker accepts Avid brake levers, SRAM® trigger shifters and various RockShox adjustment knobs in the form of a light and neat clamp - a dream come true for all global handlebar space savers. The system is available in two versions: Matchmaker™ X offers space for RockShox® XLoc and is compatible with XX and X0 brakes. The conventional Matchmaker™ is also available and works with any RockShox® split handlebar clamp and PushLoc system.
The brake fluid reservoir on SRAM's current lever design is focused on optimal performance and easy handling. The PiggyBack reservoir offers a simple and safe solution for controlling brake fluid and also allows the levers to be mounted on both sides - so you can swap your levers on the handlebars and brake as easily as on a motorcycle.
The synchronization port of a hydraulic brake is the connection between the reservoir and the master cylinder bore. When the lever is actuated, a cup seal passes through this area and closes the port, pressurizing the system. SRAM's new TPC Plus sync port closure system features durable seals and an ultra-soft cylinder bore surface for reliable and consistent braking performance.
When you pull on a new SRAM brake lever, you'll notice the difference immediately. A shorter free travel. Optimized brake pad actuation. Thanks to the new cam design, a shorter lever travel is required to push the brake pads towards the brake rotor. That's nice, but perfect braking performance requires more than just power. You need control. Many brake systems offer a shorter free travel - but at the expense of modulation. SwingLink solves this problem with its special cam shape. When the brake pads touch the brake disk, the force is modulated, thus avoiding the "faltering" braking sensation. This creates the perfect balance between power and precision.
Pressure point adjustment
Some people like the immediate power transmission of a short lever travel. Others, however, prefer the feeling of a longer lever travel. With the pressure point setting, you can determine the position where your fingers should be when the brakes are applied. This allows you to quickly and easily adjust the feel of your brakes to your needs without having to move the brake pads. In addition, both brake levers can be adjusted so that they feel exactly the same.
Sealed precision bearings on the twist grip ensure a clean, precise grip movement and enable smooth operation with just one finger.
