This uncompromising tool for modern downhill racing is now even available in this special edition with world champion decorations. The symbols and pictograms come from the fields of cycling, nature and Vali's Austrian homeland and the omnipresent smiley perfectly matches the consistently positive attitude of the downhill dominator. Her requirements for the perfect saddle: super-compact with maximum tire clearance, ideally placed anti-rattle element and glide zones, 360-degree padding all round for optimum protection and the best leg support. The Ergon SM Downhill Comp has all of this - and makes every bike an eye-catcher. The saddle has even been designed with sitting and uphill sections in mind.
Not only for world champions in downhill: full freedom of movement is essential in tough terrain and on jumps. Ergon has therefore designed the SM Downhill Comp to be minimally compact (23.6 x 12 cm). According to the motto "less can often be more", they were able to raise control, speed and safety to a new level.
The 360° all-round edge padding along the edge of the SM Downhill Comp helps you to control the bike with the best possible leg guidance and provides maximum protection. The padding reduces unpleasant bruising on the inside of the legs. This also keeps pros like Vali fit for the next run.
The soft padded anti-slip seat surface includes an anti-slip surface zone. So you can enjoy the comfort you deserve and the grip you need on short sections, downhill and on all uphill sections. The surface also helps you to guide and control the bike with your thighs when maneuvering at high lean angles.
Extreme athletes like Vali Höll ride extreme maneuvers. The rear end of the SM Downhill Comp is designed to be particularly short and flat to give the tire enough room when the rear triangle is fully compressed. Even with small 29er frames and low saddle positions, there is no contact between the saddle and tire thanks to the cut-out.
The entire surface design is consistently adapted to the sloping orientation of a downhill saddle. Always downhill is the motto here - for precise steering on steep, technical terrain and in the air, just like the world champion demonstrates.
One size fits all: the SM Downhill Comp is different from all other Ergon saddles in this respect. As it is designed less for sitting on and more for perfect control and steering of the bike on the race track and in the air, there is no need for different saddle widths or gender-specific cut-outs.
Anyone who dominates a sport like Vali Höll has more than earned her signature part. The Austrian herself designed the saddle cover according to her own ideas. The collage of symbols has no deep psychological meaning, says Vali, you can recognize the roots of the exceptional sportswoman in every single one. The smiley plays a central role and can also be found, for example, on the matching Ergon signature grips. The subtle golden CroMo rails are another eye-catcher and at the same time a tribute to Vali Höll's many victories and titles.
Do you like the Vali design? Then round things off by fitting the matching Ergon GDH Team Vali Höll Edition grips. The Saalbach native even helped develop them technically. The duo of saddle and pair of grips ensures world-class control on the bike, provides that extra bit of comfort and also looks great - for the perfect performance on the ground, in the air and even when stationary.
