The crank is the heart of the X-Range transmission philosophy. With a 13-tooth difference between the two chainrings and a wide-range cassette, riders have a wider gear range, need to shift less often and can stay on the large chainring for longer. Our 43/30 chainring combination and wide chainline improve tire clearance and provide ideal gearing for off-road riding.

DUB

The bottom bracket and oversize crankshaft unit (⌀ 28.99 mm) is at the heart of DUB™ (Durable Unified Bottom Bracket) technology, which enables a symbiosis between stiffness and durability. The system approach created by integrating the chainring, crank, shaft and bottom bracket not only improves durability thanks to optimized sealing, but also raises the performance of the drivetrain to a new level.

X-Range

Today's road bikes are faster and more powerful. Riders want a bike with a wide range of gears to suit their diverse cycling challenges. But gear range is only one half of the equation; they also want a drivetrain that offers the right gear ratio for every situation.

X-Range achieves this by shifting part of the gear range from the front to the rear. That is, SRAM has used a smaller, even difference (13 teeth) between the chainrings, while giving the cassettes a wider gear range (up to 10-36 or 360%!). This means you can stay on the same chainring for longer and require less shifting at the front, which is inherently less efficient than shifting at the rear. And when a front shift is made, the smaller jump is smoother and allows you to get into the right cadence with fewer compensating rear shifts. Fewer and faster front shifts make it easier for you to find the right gear, and that's a clear performance advantage over conventional drivetrains.

You'll notice that X-Range is based on cassettes built around a 10-tooth sprocket. This allows the sprockets and chainrings to be smaller overall, eliminating the potential weight gain of an 11-tooth drivetrain with a wide gear range. The smaller package also reduces system complexity. With X-Range, you simply get everything you've ever wanted from a drivetrain.
