The Tarmac SL8 Comp is unbeatably fast. The most advanced aerodynamics and low weight result in a ride quality that seemed unattainable. After eight generations and more than twenty years of development, it's not just the fastest Tarmac ever - it's one of the fastest road bikes in the world.
Aerodynamics and low weight alone don't win races - it's speed that counts at the finish line. To achieve this, a very specific balance of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness and compliance is required. The Ride Science Team used race simulations based on real data to find out that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike ever built on the decisive courses.
At Specialized, the term "aero" stands for functional aerodynamics - it's about surfaces that improve performance, not just appealing looks. The company's most aerodynamic road bike to date was developed on the basis of this principle: the Tarmac SL8.
The redesigned head tube has a tapered front end that directs the airflow more efficiently and reduces drag. In addition, Specialized's narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost to date has been designed in accordance with current UCI regulations. This enables a cleaner airflow in the area of the legs.
The result is a road bike that is consistently designed for speed and efficiency, developed for maximum performance in competition.
The S-Works Tarmac SL8 combines the aerodynamic properties of a modern road bike with an extremely low weight. It easily reaches the UCI weight limit. The frame of the Tarmac SL8 weighs just 685 grams, making it around 15 % lighter than its predecessor, the Tarmac SL7.
The design benefits from the latest technical developments, which have allowed the down tube, seat tube and weight to be efficiently optimized. The revised frame shape enables such effective load distribution that additional carbon layers are no longer required to increase stiffness.
With an impressive 33% increase in stiffness in relation to weight compared to the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 sets new standards in terms of handling, responsiveness and comfort. The bottom bracket is stiffer, the handlebars respond even more precisely, while the seat area has been made noticeably more comfortable - a combination that redefines both performance and riding comfort.
The Rider-First Engineering philosophy ensures that all frame sizes offer the same riding characteristics, regardless of body size. The saddle of the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance for a smoother ride on uneven roads. In addition, the tire clearance of up to 32 mm allows the use of larger tires to further increase comfort if required
