The Science of Speed. Speed was the mainspring in the development of this 12-speed road bike series of a new generation. Several years of research produced those innovations that make the Shimano Dura Ace R9200 even faster. Every component has been revised, refined and optimised to enable the decisive seconds of advantage – whether as a breakaway from the peloton or in the finish sprint on the Champs-Élysées.

The electronic Di2 parts rely on Wireless technology where it matters to make shifting even faster and more reliable. Smooth shifting is also the aim of the Hyperglide+ system, already known from the MTB segment, which is designed to bring out maximum performance and the full potential of every racer.

Shimano Dura Ace FC-R9200-P Powermeter crankset

The Shimano Dura Ace FC-R9200-P 2x12-speed crankset performs two crucial tasks: It converts pedal power into propulsion and ensures extremely fast and precise shifting.

In addition, the integrated Powermeter also sets standards in terms of performance measurement with an optimised accuracy of ±1.5 %. It measures the cadence data and the resulting values on both sides, that means independently for the left and right leg. Thanks to its design, the data collection is also free from external influences such as incline, road surface or wind. 

The effective drive is helped not only by the lightweight crank arms, manufactured using Hollowtech II technology, but also by the uniquely designed chainrings which feature a Hollowglide construction and ensure fast as well as smooth shifting. The result is responsive acceleration from any speed securing the crank an absolute top position.

Various crank arm lengths and chainrings with 50-34 to 54-40 teeth offer variability and an optimum gear ratio for every riding situation.

Hollowtech II

The guiding principle of Shimano's Hollowtech II technology is the perfect balance between stiffness, stability, weight and rotational efficiency. The goal was to produce a crank that minimises the effort required for the drive and enables more efficient power transmission.

An exclusive forging process allows the production of extremely light crank arms that nevertheless guarantee maximum stiffness. The fixed connection of the right arm to the axle of the bottom bracket and its external bearing also serve an optimum relationship between stiffness and low weight.
