The Prologue models form a budget-friendly, high-performance range from Boyd Cycling that sets the bar in terms of price/performance ratio. The Prologue series is designed to appeal to those looking for an upgrade to their standard wheels at an adequate price. By using an automated carbon layup process that only adds a little over 20 grams of weight per rim, Boyd Cycling engineers were able to keep costs down and create a wheelset that offers incredible performance for half to a third of the cost of premium models.
The Prologue rims feature a classic hooked rim flange, so any brand of tire can be used with any pressure and there is no risk of tire blowouts that hookless road bike rims can suffer. At the heart of the Prologue wheel is the reliable Boyd Cycling Skyuka Road hub, which features a quick engagement angle of 10 degrees, a tool-free replaceable freewheel body and sealed Abec-3 cartridge bearings. The wheel is built with Pillar Aero 1423 J-bend spokes and Pillar DSN brass nipples, resulting in an overall stable and quiet wheel.
The 44mm profile height provides the ideal blend of light weight, aerodynamic benefits and crosswind stability. And with an inner width of 19 mm can be comfortably driven road bike tires between 25 and 32 mm. Gone are the days when you needed a heavy aluminum wheel for everyday use and had to switch to the fast wheels for racing.
