With the Bora WTO 60, Campagnolo has focused on producing the most efficient wheels possible in terms of decreasing rolling resistance as the cyclist moves and maximising aerodynamic efficiency.
The acronym WTO - WIND TUNNEL OPTIMIZED – calls to mind the environment that the team of Campy Tech Lab engineers worked in to meet these challenging project objectives. The Bora WTO 60 wheels feature exclusive design characteristics that establish standards in aerodynamic efficiency. Directly from the wind tunnel to the market, the pair of Bora WTO 60 wheels is destined to become the necessary choice every time a cyclist faces a route that allows average speeds of more than 40 km/h.
Special Features
Most aerodynamic wheels
The rim design enables the maximum amount of aerodynamic penetration when the wind angle is between 12° and 19°, making it a thrust for triathlon athletes. The streamlined design of the central part of the hub decreases the frontal area of the component whilst the special design of the flanges favors airflow detachment. The 18-spoke elliptical cross section in the front and 21-spoke rear cross section in the rear result in a far superior rolling resistance of the cross sections compared to competitor wheels.
Smoothest rolling
The well-known USB cup-and-cone bearing system guarantees smoothness in the ceramic bearings. The 2-Way Fit profile allows you to mount either a clincher tire or a tubeless tire, with less rolling resistance. The C19 class allows you to mount tires from 23, 25 to 28 mm, with perfect pairing of the rim-tire system.
This construction relies on AC3™ technology to create surefooted stopping power that is reliable and potent no
matter the weather conditions. All Conditions Carbon Control™, or AC3™, was developed not only to generally improve an already great braking performance but also to address one of the principle drawbacks to the carbon fiber racing rim: braking performance in the wet. Aside from the externally obvious textured design upon the brake track, the construction of the new Bora™ wheels underwent some internal optimization to orient the fibers in a way to guarantee maximum integrity in the face of new input deriving from a new braking surface. The highly sophisticated resin optimized by Campagnolo engineering staff to withstand higher temperatures than the Bora™’s competition and to dissipate the extreme heat produced during the braking phase.
Furthermore the Bora WTO wheelset offers 19 mm internally wide, 60 mm deep 2WF (tubeless ready) clincher rims with water transfer graphics, radial spoke lacing on the front wheel and G3™ on the rear. External, self-locking nipples, hubs in aluminum with differentiated front and rear diameters, adjustable ceramic USB™ bearings, aluminium freewheel body and aerodynamic quick releases are just some of the top features of the Bora WTO 60.
Other Features
full-carbon C19 rim
Great comfort and maximum aerodynamics for interacting with new tire standards. Extremely high lateral wheel stiffness and reactivity.
Exclusive rim printing system
rim painting no longer required. The weight is greatly reduced and the surface is free from imperfections.
Exclusive G3 spoke pattern
perfect balance of the spoke tensions on both sides of the wheel. Reduces stress, increases transversal rigidity and the transmission of power to the wheel. G3 eliminates vibrations even with "heavy" cyclists.
brake pads made especially for carbon wheelsin scope of delivery
the new blend increases the brake performance by about 40% on wet surfaces and 20% on dry surfaces without increasing the wear and tear on the pad. For a more modular and more secure stop
Spokes with aerodynamic profile
provides the maximum aerodynamic penetration. Reduces aerodynamic drag saving rider energy.
Spokes anti-rotation system
Prevents twisting, keeps the spokes in the
aerodynamic position.
Aluminum hub
provides lateral stiffness and reduced weight.
Oversized flange
greater torsional stiffness and greater reactivity.
Cup and cone bearings
easy ball/bearing adjustment, reduces possible ball/bearing play, precision operation, maintains performance over time
Aluminum axle
reduces the weight of the wheel.
Quick release
Steel spine and eccentric, lever with drill lightening and aluminum die. The eccentric-closure system allows cyclist to modulate the pressure necessary for heightened sensitivity to find the proper closure for the block. Easy to use, with a material resistant to wear and tear, rust, and pressure.
G3 geometry
Campagnolo® has developed an assembly architecture which, compared with a traditional wheel, makes it possible to improve energy transfer, reduce the stress on the spokes on the right and increase transverse rigidity. This is achieved because in G3™ geometry the right-hand side of the rear wheel is fitted with twice as many spokes as the left.
The results of G3™ system are truly extraordinary: better transfer of the driving torque, better lateral rigidity, reduction of the stress in the rear wheel spokes. And thanks to the G3™ system that compensates for the forces acting on the 2 sides of the wheel, there are no more wheel vibrations, even for heavier people.
The wheel is entirely hand-assembled by a specialized Campagnolo® technician and is checked in every tiny detail with electronic instrumentation.
This ensures maximum performance and reliability for all Campagnolo® wheels.
