Although for most very attentive fans of the Italian brand the name certainly does not sound new, the current version represents a real leap forward, offering more quality and performance than any previous version. The cascade effect of group technologies from the top of the range is a real advantage for the Centaur 11 group, but they increase not only the value but above all the competitive performance of a group that virtually any cyclist can afford, making Centaur a valuable resource for any frame. The 11-speed version of Centaur, the alloy group with performance far beyond its weight class, intends to directly challenge the entry level offerings of the competition. The basic goal of the Centaur project was to offer a low-cost groupset in the first range with performance or features that are anything but entry level.

Most Centaur components have the purpose of making the cyclist even faster in competition. Yet, at the same time, the Centaur group offers exceptional control over the bike, thanks to a completely redesigned pair of brakes that are about 50 grams lighter than the competition's version of the same level. For safe deceleration, the newly developed Centaur Dual Pivot brakes with forged brake arms.
To achieve even better braking performance, the brake pads can be adjusted orbital. A special brake pad compound improves braking performance in all weather conditions and guarantees less wear on the rim and pad.
