The Dune is made cross races on sandy soils, just like the worldcup race in Koksijde. The tire offers a smooth rolling characteristics and can also be used as an every day tire for streets or gravel roads.
The Cross version comes with a 300 TPI SuperPoly casing made of polyester and is equipped with a Puncture Protection Strip (PPS), which is an extra layer of highly resistant material between the casing and the tire to reduce the risk of punctures. A special sealing protects the tire against water and increases the durability as well.
Open tubular tires mount like a standard clincher and are made using the same process as regular tubular tires, but instead of sewing the casing together, the sides of the tubular casing are folded around aramid fiber cords to produce the beads. The result is a tire that maintains most of the suppleness and ride quality gained from a tubular to offer excellent traction and cornering grip, low rolling resistance and shock absorption.
