Colnago presents here an icon with a paint scheme that aims to live up to the tradition and uniqueness of the C series. The project was realized by Motoki Yoshio, Milan-based and very prestigious Japanese designer. Colnago is known not only for the quality of its frames, but also for the originality and uniqueness of its finishes. From the construction to the decor, Colnago clearly shows here what is possible when tradition meets innovation.
It should not be considered simply a limited edition bike, but a unique piece to collect. Entirely handmade in Italy - born from the collaboration between the company of the "ace of clubs" and one of the most respected contemporary designers in the cycling industry.
The design color scheme began with the analysis of the geometry of the frame and the overlap of the parts that compose it. The different colors are arranged along the lines of the joints. They are a tribute to the tradition of the Colnago C series. An iconic product and at the same time the ultimate expression of Italian craftsmanship. The C68 represented a change in the C-Series by moving away from sharp edges. The challenge for Motoki Yoshio was to maintain and emphasize the identity even in a frame with more innovative shapes. In the first phase, the Japanese designer traced the lines of the frame parts and combined them with bold colors - as is customary in the design phase. Later, the shades were added to create even more harmony and better highlight the main components.
The C68 represents a high point in Colnago's evolution and history. It is the point where 68 years of frame design meet the future. The C68 is simply a milestone.
The split head tube is now stronger, lighter and more adaptable than ever before. The number of parts has been reduced from 8 to 6, saving weight and machining time.
The fork of the C68 has been completely redesigned to offer more comfort to the rider, but also to improve the ride quality. It is stiffer and more resistant and weighs 40 grams less.
Normally, integrated handlebars are built from several carbon parts that are glued together either at the drops or at the stem. However, the Colnago CC.01 is made from a single piece, a monocoque, which helps to save weight as well as increase stiffness.
